Agriculture Design System
2025An open-source design system for the Australian Government's import and export services

In 2025, I joined Thinkmill’s team maintaining the Agriculture Design System (AgDS), built for the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) to improve design patterns and accessibility across the organisation.
AgDS is a suite of tools and guidelines for designers and developers. The components are built in React and documented with Next.js and Storybook, and an example site gives DAFF designers and engineers layouts to follow.
My work included:
- Building new components when product teams needed something the system didn’t cover yet.
- Updating existing components to fix bugs, improve accessibility and close gaps raised by teams.
- Improving documentation across the repo to help designers and engineers use the system, including a new responsive live preview.
I learned a lot from this project, and I really enjoyed working with DAFF and the Thinkmill team. Check out the Agriculture Design System. I still use it as a reference for accessibility, component design and guidance.
